One fifth of the population has a disability and business leaders are taking steps to ensure their organisation reaches these potential customers. As a result, increasingly, websites and applications are expected to be accessible.
If you are looking to meet the WCAG 2.0 standards we recommend working with an accessibility audit provider.
Here are our top five tips for what to look for when choosing a provider.
- Experience. Has the prospective partner done this work before? Have they completed audits for other organisations? Do they have the experience needed to deliver?
- Understanding of WCAG. Do they have a good working knowledge of the WCAG standards?
- Automated testing tools. There are some great tools for conducting WCAG audits. What tools does this partner use?
- Skilled manual testers. The WCAG tools are helpful but only get your so far. Do their staff have a strong eye for detail for finding the things that the tools miss? We employ autistic people as our testers and they are uniquely skilled in highly detailed tasks.
- Solution-focused. Do they simply list the issues that they find or do they give recommendations to fix those issues?
We are passionate about accessibility testing and doing it well. If you would like to discuss how we can help you with an audit or certification, please get in touch. You can reach us through our contact us form or by email ([email protected]).
