Digital Forensics for Mobile Scholarship

Synopsis

The Institute of Applied Technology Digital (IAT-D), Macquarie University, Microsoft and University of Technology Sydney are offering Neurodiverse people the opportunity to develop in demand Cyber skills and future proof their careers via fully subsidised Microcredentials. This initiative is funded by the Federal Government under the Commonwealth Cyber Security Skills Partnership Innovation Fund.

The 8-week scholarship program in Digital Forensics for Mobile, set to commence on 30th May, will constitute a cohort exclusively comprising neurodivergent individuals.

This scholarship program is a gateway to mastering the art and science of extracting, analysing, and interpreting digital evidence from various mobile platforms. It offers a deep dive into the intricacies of mobile device investigations.

Through a combination of expert-led instruction, hands-on labs, and real-world case studies, learners will gain the skills and knowledge needed to uncover critical insights from both Android and iOS devices.

Learning Objectives

Digital Forensics for Mobile

  • Understand the fundamentals of digital forensics for mobile, including types of digital evidence, legal implications and the principles of digital forensics investigation.
  • Identify and interpret digital artifacts on mobile devices with different OS architectures (i.e., Android and iOS).
  • Use forensic tools to analyse mobile device data, such as Autopsy, Android/iOS Debug Tools, and FTK.
  • Write reports on mobile forensics investigations.
  • Apply mobile forensics principles to real-world cases.

  • Coaching to support individuals develop self-sufficiency and confidence, enabling participants to recognise when accommodations may be necessary and empowering them to request and utilise them effectively.
  • Soft-skills training in topics like, communications, self-advocacy, task management and problem solving.

Eligibility

  • Are available to attend online classes for the full duration of the program
  • Are an Australian citizen or permanent resident equivalent
  • Are proficient in English literacy and numeracy
  • Familiarity with mobile devices and operating systems
  • ​Basic Knowledge of digital forensics concepts.
